Why FACEIT asks for phone number verification
Competitive platforms have a problem most apps do not: players who make new accounts to escape a ban or to play against weaker opponents. A phone number is hard to replace, so asking for one raises the cost of doing that. FACEIT uses phone verification as one of its anti-cheat and anti-smurf measures.
The check works like most SMS verification: you enter your number, FACEIT sends a code, and you type it in. Behind that, the platform decides which numbers it accepts. Numbers that look virtual, shared, or already linked to another account may be turned away.
That is the point of the check, not a fault in it. If a virtual number is refused, FACEIT is doing what it set out to do.
What we will and will not help with
We will not help anyone get around FACEIT verification, create extra accounts, or come back after a ban. Those uses break FACEIT's rules and spoil the matches other players are trying to enjoy.
What we can do is explain the privacy case honestly. Some players do not want their personal mobile number held by every gaming platform they use. That is a fair wish for one account, as long as the number you use stays yours.
If you want to keep your personal number private
The only option that makes sense is a number you keep for the long term. A private rental is a dedicated non-VoIP number with an inbox only you can read, unlimited SMS, and a period from 1 day up to 12 months depending on the country, from $4.99. For FACEIT, choose a long period and renew it, because the number stays tied to your account.
FACEIT may still reject it. If it does, cancel between 5 and 120 minutes after renting, before any SMS arrives, for a refund, then verify with your own mobile number.
Why a per-code or free number will not do
Per-code numbers from $0.50 are not a good fit here. They are temporary, the platform is likely to refuse them, and a number you have given up cannot help if FACEIT asks you to confirm it again.
Free shared numbers are worse still. Their inboxes are public and reused by many people, so FACEIT is very likely to refuse them, and anyone could read the code.
FACEIT verification not working
Check that you chose the right country code and left out any leading zero. If you are using your own number and the code does not arrive, wait a few minutes before asking again, since repeated requests can be slowed down.
If FACEIT says your number cannot be used, it may already be linked to another account, or it may be a type the platform does not accept. Contact FACEIT support about your own number rather than trying a run of others.
