How DoorDash verification works
DoorDash keeps a phone number on every customer account. It can text a code to confirm the number at sign-up, and it may send another when you log in on a new device or change account details.
The code SMS is plain: the DoorDash name and a few digits, valid for a short time. If you request a new one, use the newest. Older codes usually stop working.
The same number is also how the Dasher and the store reach you about a live order. That second job matters as much as the code, and it shapes which number you should pick.
Customer accounts only: not for Dasher sign-up
Becoming a Dasher involves identity checks, and the phone number on a Dasher account is part of how DoorDash knows who it is paying. A temporary number is not for that. Use your own long-term number for any courier account.
Everything on this page is about a customer account: ordering food or groceries while keeping your personal number private.
DoorDash not sending a verification code
When DoorDash is not sending a verification code, start with the number. For a US number, enter it with +1 and ten digits, with no extra zero. Then wait a few minutes before tapping resend, since repeated requests can be paused.
Check that the code was not filtered. If you used a private ASMS.ai number, the code appears in your web inbox, not on your phone.
DoorDash may decline some numbers, such as certain VoIP ranges or a number already linked to another account. If one number gets nothing, change the number type instead of retrying the same one.
The Dasher will text you: choose a number you can read
A Dasher who cannot find your entrance, or a store that is out of an item, may text or call the number on your account. If you cannot read it during the order, the delivery can go wrong.
A per-code number is meant for the sign-up code, not for staying reachable afterwards. If you will order regularly, rent a private number and keep its inbox open while a delivery is on its way.
Never use a free shared number for DoorDash. Its inbox is public, and delivery messages can mention your address.
Which number to use for DoorDash
Start with VoIP High Quality on the /otp page, a US +1 pool from $0.50 per code. You see the DoorDash price and stock before you pay, and a code that never comes is refunded automatically.
If DoorDash refuses VoIP, rent a private non-VoIP number from $4.99. Strict apps are more likely to treat it like a normal mobile line. Rentals run from 1 day up to 12 months depending on the country, with unlimited SMS.
A UK number from the same page is also on offer, but DoorDash is mainly a US service, so a US number is usually the better match.
Your card is on that account
A DoorDash account usually has a saved card. Whoever controls its phone number can often receive the login or reset code. Use a number you keep and only you can read, which in practice means a rental.
If you rent the wrong number, cancel between 5 and 120 minutes after renting, before any SMS arrives, and you are refunded.
