Use asms with Claude
Add asms as a custom connector in claude.ai or Claude Desktop. Sign in with your asms account and Claude can get codes and numbers for you in any chat.

Setup
Sign in with your asms account, or use an API key from your dashboard. Either way Claude uses your asms wallet.

If a user asked you to connect asms to Claude, follow these steps in order.
- Check whether the ASMS_API_KEY environment variable is set, without printing its value. If it is not set, the user can either sign in with asms when Claude prompts for it, or create a key at https://asms.ai/dashboard#api-keys and set ASMS_API_KEY.
- Register the server: Claude (claude.ai, Desktop) is set up in its own settings, not from a terminal: tell the user to add a custom connector with the URL https://asms.ai/mcp and sign in with their asms account.
- Check it worked: ask the user to switch asms on in the chat's connector menu, then call get_balance.
- Start read-only: call

Questions
Which Claude plans can add it?+
All of them, including Free, which allows one custom connector. On Team and Enterprise an owner adds asms for the organization and each member connects their own asms account.
Can I use an API key instead of signing in?+
Yes. When adding the connector, put Authorization: Bearer <your key> under Request headers. Signing in is simpler, and you can disconnect it any time under Connected apps on your asms dashboard.
What does it cost?+
Connecting is free. You pay from your asms wallet: verification codes from $0.50, charged only when a code arrives and refunded automatically when none does, and rented numbers priced by country and period. Top up by card, PayPal or crypto.
Will Claude spend money without asking?+
Ordering a code and renting a number are marked as spending tools, so clients that support it ask for your approval first, and asms tells the agent to confirm the price with you before buying. Reading prices, balances and messages never spends anything.
What's the difference between a code and a rented number?+
A verification code order gives you a number for one code, for one service, and refunds itself if nothing arrives. A rented number is yours for a set period, from a day to a year, and receives every SMS sent to it: useful for testing your own app's SMS login or for an account you'll need to verify again later.
How do I disconnect it?+
Delete the API key in your asms dashboard, or remove asms under Connected apps if you signed in. Either one cuts off access straight away.
